PRODUCT CARE
To make it last
At Tercera, every piece is made to be part of everyday life. Caring for your textiles properly helps preserve the texture, colour and performance of their natural fibres, extending their lifespan and maintaining the character that makes each item unique.
The guidance below provides general recommendations. Always refer to the composition and care label on each product, as washing temperatures and methods may vary according to the fibre, construction and finish.
ESSENTIAL CARE
Separate light colours from dark or intense colours, and wash items before first use.
- Use a mild detergent without bleach or optical brighteners, and avoid using excessive amounts.
- Do not overload the washing machine; allowing space helps items wash and rinse more effectively.
- Avoid fabric softener on towels and other absorbent items, as it can coat the fibres and reduce absorbency.
- Remove items promptly at the end of the cycle, gently reshape them and allow them to dry completely before storing.
- Treat stains promptly without rubbing vigorously, using a bleach-free product suitable for the fibre.
NATURAL FIBRES
- Slight variations in colour, texture and size are part of the natural character of these materials.
- Residual shrinkage of approximately 3–5% may occur after washing.
- Some initial shedding is normal and will gradually decrease after the first washes.
TOWELS
Machine wash towels at the temperature shown on the care label — generally up to 40 °C for cotton items and up to 30 °C for pieces with a higher linen content. Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean, and avoid fabric softener to preserve absorbency.
Tumble dry at a low temperature or on a gentle programme, taking care not to overdry. Gentle drying helps restore the fibres’ volume. Iron only when indicated on the care label; terry towels do not require ironing.
TO PRESERVE ABSORBENCY AND TEXTURE
- Wash separately from zips, hooks and garments that may pull the loops.
- If a loop is pulled, carefully trim it level with the surface; do not pull it.
- Gently shake towels before and after drying to help loosen the pile.
BATHROBES
Wash bathrobes with similar colours at the temperature shown on the care label. Secure the belt and avoid washing with garments that have zips or abrasive details. Use a mild detergent, do not bleach and avoid fabric softener on terry styles.
Tumble dry at a low temperature or on a gentle programme. Remove the bathrobe while it is still slightly damp, reshape the collar, pockets and belt, then allow it to finish air drying. Linen styles may be ironed at a low temperature if a smoother finish is desired.
BATH AND KITCHEN MATS
Shake out or vacuum mats regularly to remove dust and loose fibres. When a full wash is needed, follow the care label: depending on their composition and finish, Tercera mats should be washed at 30 °C or 40 °C.
Wash separately on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and no bleach. Tumble dry at a low temperature only when permitted. Do not iron mats with a non-slip backing, and never place them on the floor until the backing is completely dry.
MATS WITH A NON-SLIP BACKING
- Avoid high temperatures, fabric softeners and direct heat sources, as these may damage the backing.
- Ensure the floor is clean, dry and free from cleaning-product residue before replacing the mat.
- Do not fold or store the mat while damp.
TABLE AND KITCHEN LINENS
Wash tea towels, placemats, napkins and table runners with similar colours at the temperature shown on the care label, usually up to 30 °C for linen or linen-and-cotton pieces. Use a mild detergent, do not bleach and avoid dry cleaning.
Treat food stains as soon as possible, blotting away excess without rubbing. Tumble dry on a gentle programme or air dry. Reshape while damp and iron inside out at a low temperature when needed.
BEACH ITEMS
After each use, shake off sand thoroughly and rinse the item if it has been exposed to salt water or chlorine. Allow it to dry completely before storing. Wash with similar colours at the temperature shown on the care label — generally between 30 °C and 40 °C — using a mild detergent and no bleach.
Do not leave damp items inside bags or exposed to sunlight for long periods, as moisture, salt, chlorine and intense sunlight may gradually affect the fibres and colour. Tumble dry on a gentle programme or at a low temperature when permitted.
AREA RUGS
Vacuum regularly at moderate power without using a rotating brush. Rotate the rug periodically to encourage even wear and protect it from prolonged direct sunlight. Use a suitable rug pad for the type of flooring.
In the event of a spill, blot immediately with a clean, dry white cloth, working from the outer edge towards the centre. Do not rub, soak or apply harsh cleaning products. For deep cleaning or persistent stains, consult a professional cleaner experienced with the rug’s fibre and construction.
SPECIAL CARE
- Carefully trim any loose fibre; never pull it.
- Avoid placing heavy furniture directly on the rug without protection, and slightly reposition it over time.
- Store the rug clean, completely dry and rolled — never folded — in a well-ventilated place.
CARE MAKES THINGS LAST
The beauty of natural fibres evolves over time. Thoughtful washing, gentle drying and regular care help preserve the quality of each piece and reduce the need for replacement.
If in doubt, always follow the product care label. For advice on a specific piece, contact the Tercera team and provide the product name, composition and details of your enquiry.
NOTE FOR PUBLICATION
The instructions on the product care label take precedence over this general guide. Before publication, ensure that each product is linked to the care information appropriate to its composition and finish.
